Basil Hayden’s Iced Coffee
Coffee + Bourbon, Part II
Basil Hayden is my favorite bourbon. It is my go to and never disappoints. So when I tried to make the Basil Hayden iced coffee previously, it tasted good; but didn’t look like the picture. That annoyed me.
So I tried again and the difference this time is I used cold brew coffee rather than making a pot of coffee and letting it cool.
In a word: Jackpot!
The cold brew gave the drink a darker hue and allowed the coffee to shine. It was a perfect compliment to the bourbon. I didn’t follow the recipe to a tee- I wouldn’t be me, if I did. I omitted the chocolate bitters. It was beyond delightful.

My second glass, I reduced the amount of simple syrup, even better.
My third glass – don’t judge me – I replaced the simple syrup with @Kahlua – divine.
There aren’t enough superlatives to describe this one and I will now add cold brew coffee to my shopping list. 😉
Next time I’m going to try it with @Frangelico.
Cheers,
