Grapefruit Old Fashioned
I love grapefruits. My Paloma Julep for Cinco de Mayo is still in rotation, and I keep tweaking the proportions. More to come with that one. I had some grapefruits that were starting to soften, so I decided to make juice with them. Nothing is better than freshly squeezed pink grapefruit juice. Nothing.
While sipping a grapefruit mimosa โ I quickly put that juice to use ๐โ I started thinking how good it would be in an Old Fashioned. Itโs delicious BTW. I used a big bourbon, more than 100 proof because the juice is so flavorful it could handle it. I added two dashes of Angostura Bitters for some complexity. Then, because I had it on hand, I rubbed the lip of my glass with rosemary and added a to my glass. That took it up another notch. It was layer upon layer of flavor and it was tasty. This has become my summer house cocktail. Guests will have a choice of this yummy cocktail or water. Thatโs it!
