NULU Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Color is a warm to dark honey. It looks delicious.

Nose: raisins! I never smell raisins. I smell vanilla or caramel in almost every bottle I taste. I also pick up baking spices fairly easily and every blue moon I may pick up cherries, though it is subtle. So, for me to smell raisins, well that’s biased me to love this bottle and I haven’t tasted it yet. I really like how it smells. Like really, really like the smell. If I linger over the glass, I pick up alcohol but not a lot given the heft of the bourbon.

Palate: Sweet with a little spice. I definitely taste the alcohol after the first sip. I need to let this breathe a bit.

Giving it some air helps; but I still pick up the alcohol and some baking spice notes. Interesting combo with the raisins.

Finish: long. It lingers and the spice builds to some heat.

Final verdict: At 118 proof this is higher than I normally sip, though it is tasty and would be great in a cocktail. Did I tell you I smell raisins?! LOL
