New Fashioned For Juliet

SolernoBottle.jpg

Random scrolling through FB and a friend of mine had a photo with @Solerno blood orange liqueur and recommended a New Fashioned. I was immediately intrigued as my sister loves all things orange. I mean all things.

My sister is a bourbon lightweight but always open to try my latest cocktail and was really excited to try this one. On a random Thursday night, I made her my twist on a traditional New Fashioned – I added blood orange soda. It was delicious and the soda diluted the alcohol – a bit. Ya’ll know I’m not serving weak cocktails. Periodt.

I’m not the biggest cheerleader for blood orange but I like this cocktail. It smells divine. In fact, she sat smelling her drink far longer than I had patience for. I clinked my glass to hers and was off to tasting. I made mine without the soda and I like it both ways.

I love twists on the classics and this one is delightful. Thank you @kittytompkins for the inspiration. I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t riff on it a bit. It’s a cocktail, there is always room for experimentation.
