Try and Try Again

As I make my way through the bourbon section at my local store, I have found some definite hits! @VirgilKane Ginger Infused Bourbon, @UncleNearest1884 to name a few. And some that, well I don’t love.  I’ll omit their names to protect the innocent. Or something like that.

As I look at my bar, it is clear which bottles I prefer and which, not so much. Typically when I’m not feeling a bottle it gets relegated to my buffet, out of sight and out of mind. However, as the bottles in the ‘don’t like’ cabinet started to grow, I realized that I needed to do something with them.

What to do? Perhaps a bottle swap with other Brown Girls who like bourbon. What might not be my lowball of choice, might be someone else’s. That’s an idea for after the pandemic. I’ll keep you posted. Or freeze the liquor in ice cube trays and use it for soups in the fall. Also a viable option.

And my final option: before moving to one of the above was simply to try them again. And so I did. And some that I thought weren’t great, were ok. Some were even delightful. Certainly not worth being put ‘on the shelf’. And so Brown Girls, if you purchase a bottle and think oh no. Fear not, wait a week or two and try it again.

You do not like them.
So you say.
Try them! Try them!
And you may.
