Elijah Craig - Big Bourbon

In a group chat with my girls, I told them I had a date Friday evening with Mr. Craig. Elijah Craig.

Work has been beastly, COVID numbers are on the rise, and quite frankly as much as I am enjoying the slower pace of life – I miss my ‘normal’ life. I decided I’d try something new Small Batch 1789.

So I thought I’d crack the bottle and see what’s what with Mr. Craig. At 94 proof, it is bigger than what I’m used to. Quite frankly it was too big for me neat; but on the rocks, it mellowed nicely. The nose is sweet, with strong vanilla and maybe some caramel. It finishes with a bit of spice. Not a bad pour but not sure it will be a sipping bourbon.

I need to try this with cocktails and see if the higher proof enhances or detracts from my classics.
