As I was road tripping 95 North for a week on the Island, we got separated from one of the cars. Well the bourbon goddess was indeed smiling down on me because we pulled off so everyone could catch up was LITERALLY in front of a packaging (liquor) store. Kismet.

I saw some of my well documented favorites like Basil Hayden and Basil Hayden Rye, which I never find at home anymore. The Rye that is.

I saw Yellowstone Select Straight Bourbon Whiskey. It’s not sold where I live, so it is something new. I like the label and the price point was decent for me to forgo the Basil Hayden Rye.

It is quite good. At 93 proof it doesn’t overwhelm the nose with ethanol and is an easy sip. On the nose, I picked up butter and toffee. When I tasted it, the toffee came through, as did a little spice. 

I’ve been drinking this all week and enjoying it immensely.
