Sipping Down the Strip

As my time in Vegas draws to a close, I went for tapas and a steak dinner. The tapas restaurant didn’t have a bourbon cocktail on the menu – shouldn’t that be against the law? So, I ordered an Old Fashioned. One word – basic. It was pretty unremarkable. In the spirit of finding something positive to say, they had clear ice globes and I like them in my drinks. How’s that?

On to the steakhouse. I knew I’d find a bourbon cocktail there. There were quite a few gin cocktails but only 2 bourbon drinks. 2! One was a twist on an Old Fashioned and the other Thyme Out of Mind. I’m not a fan of thyme; but at the suggestion of the server, I went with it. One word – delicious. There was a blackberry syrup that balanced the thyme infused whiskey that delivered a well-balanced cocktail with a kiss of lemon at the end of the sip. I would definitely order this again. It was tasty.

Bye Vegas. The tables were good to me, 2 out of 4 of my drinks were delicious and I spent quality time with my daughter.
