Sweet Ginger

Sweet Ginger cocktail

After a nonstop morning with the young prince, we picked a spot for lunch. I was tired and needed a pick me up to finish the rest of the day’s adventures. After skimming the cocktail menu, I spotted Sweet Ginger. All bourbon cocktails demand a second look for me; and I knew I wanted to try it. There was a Sour and Peachy cocktail that had the potential to be a miss and honestly, peach is overdone. I flashback to Peach Schnapps and my stomach roils. ☹ Though I am intrigued with a homemade peach syrup. Yes, totally talking out of both sides of my mouth, what can I say.

The Sweet Ginger reminded me of my Pollinators Old Fashioned with the addition of ginger. I dig it. The cocktail was well balanced, and I love ginger and honey. The bourbon was Copper Dog Scotch Whiskey which was new to me; so I asked to taste it neat. It was tasty, heavy alcohol initially but I tasted some toffee maybe and fruit. At 80 proof, it didn’t overwhelm the honey and balanced nicely with the ginger.

I think I’m going to try and make this one at home.
