Pollinators Old Fashioned
Spring has sprung where I live, we are quickly skipping the season and heading into hot summer, but I digress. The farmer’s market has opened for the season, and I am finding my rhythm of getting fresh produce while socially distancing. It’s a slow process. I’m vaccinated but I still wear a mask and try to keep my distance.
Anyhoots, my Saturday morning trip netted some great pickups for cocktails: cherries, rhubarb, and local honey. I’m thinking of making my own cocktail cherries. Let’s hope we don’t have a repeat of the bitters making. Deep sigh! I’m not sure what I’m going to do with the rhubarb; but I’ll figure that out. And the local honey – well here we are, the Pollinators Old Fashioned.
Swapping out the sugar for honey was an interesting twist to the cocktail; I like it. It’s a bit sweeter, which would be overkill for a lower proof bourbon but it is tasty.
Try it and let me know what you think!
Cheers!
