2 Brown Girls & Bourbon

Kane, Virgil Kane

Say it like Bond. James Bond

I have an obsessive personality.  I know this and I manage accordingly.  I LOVE bourbon. Full Stop. I plan imaginary trips to the Bourbon Trail. I read articles about. I savor it.

I read an article about Virgil Kane ginger infused Bourbon that sounded delicious. Bourbon - check.  Ginger - double check.  I had to try it.  I obsessed about getting a bottle.   Well lo & behold they don't sell it in my state - WTH?!?!?  Luckily, G was traveling for a visit and it IS sold in the Empire state.  Hallelujah!

My routine when trying a Bourbon for the first time is to sit still and enjoy it.  Sometimes neat, oftentimes on the rocks. After the third sip, I like to look at the bottle and assess if it matches the personality of the drink.  This time, I was too excited. I made a cocktail as I fixed dinner.  I started neat. Whoa.  I turned off dinner and got back to my routine.  It is delicious and I wanted, no I needed, to just sit and enjoy it.

The infused ginger is well balanced.  You can taste it; but it isn't cloying and doesn't overpower the Bourbon.

After the firs drink, I told G that he was cooking dinner and I poured another one.  This time on the rocks.  As the ice melted, the flavor became mellow.  Still delicious, just softer.  My take on the bottle - heavy.  It felt good in the hand.  The the label - meh.   It's far more masculine than it needs to be.  IMHO.

Given the limited distribution, I will definitely need to drink slowly. And I enjoy every sip.

Cheers!
