If I was asked if I like brown liquor, my gut reaction would be no. And yet, here I am, because of 2 Brown Girls & Bourbon, drinking bourbon… as my go to drink of choice.

I’m halfway across the country for work and I’m enjoying the work and my evening cocktails with dinner. I’ve had two of note – a classic and something new. The classic was a riff on an Old Fashioned and left me underwhelmed and tasted off. I won’t name the restaurant because everyone has an off night; but I was sadly disappointed and reminded how complex an Old Fashioned can be with so few ingredients.

Now to the something new – the Dirtier Bastard. The name alone is intriguing. It has fresh ginger, lime, a lemon tea cordial and of course bourbon. I was a bit hesitant to order it because a little ginger goes a LONG way with me. But I went for it. And I liked it. A lot! It arrived in a mule cup with a wedge of lime. I think the lime mellowed the ginger out.

It was quite tasty and I would definitely order it again.
