Jefferson’s Very Small Batch

Several years ago I read an article about Jefferson’s Reserve Ocean Aged bourbon and I was intrigued. I was new to bourbon and the price point wasn’t something I was willing to spend on an untried sip. But I’ve always been intrigued by it.

Long story short, the barrels are aged on a ship and the sea air + salt brings a richness and delicious unique flavor. Or so the marketing materials say.

I still haven’t purchased a bottle of the Ocean Aged; however I did try Jefferson’s very small batch blend of straight bourbon whiskeys. AMAZING.

The nose is sweet and buttery. The sip is subtle with a strong note of caramel. I think I am in love. Like seriously, I may have a rival of Basil Hayden and that is saying a lot. I need to sip this some more before I’m ready to make that bold statement.
