Blueberry Lemonade

I went out to dinner recently with two of my fave Brown Girls. The food was tasty, the drinks were good and the friendship is priceless.

The calendar may say it’s springtime, but the temperatures the last few days have felt like full on summer. I’m wilting! I prefer lemonade over iced tea and cannot stand sweet tea – I know my southern card is about to be revoked! When I saw blueberry lemonade with bourbon on the cocktail menu, I stopped reading.

Blueberry Lemonade with bourbon

This has a striking presentation. When the server brought it to the table, I didn’t think it was mine, it looked tropical and very sweet. The bartender did an excellent job of creating a hard line between the blueberry and lemonade. I’m pretty sure the bartender added a splash of blue curacao to the blueberry because the color was so striking and the citrus flavor was amplified. Make at home tip: if you want to get the hard line in your glass, add the lemonade first and then slowly pour the blueberry juice over the back of a spoon. You must pour slowly so it doesn’t sink to the bottom of the glass and turn your drink green.

I liked the drink. I didn’t get much of the blueberry flavor in my lemonade and if I drank it with my eyes closed; I wouldn’t have known it was there. But, the presentation was delightful and I’m here for pretty cocktails. 😉

Cheers,
