Blood Orange Whiskey Sour

I was out recently at a restaurant that has fabulous views, mediocre food and good drinks. Two out of three isn’t bad and I had a meeting there, so really the choice wasn’t mine.

Anyhoots, after the meeting I was standing in the bar area with my Mom and we decided to have a cocktail before heading home. I saw a Blood Orange Whiskey Sour that looked interesting. I like Blood Orange and my New Old Fashioned for Juliet is definitely a tasty treat. So when I saw the Blood Orange Whiskey Sour, with fresh blood orange puree, I was excited.

In a word – meh. It had great potential; however, the drink wasn’t balanced. There was too much citrus - with lemon juice and a wedge of lime – the blood orange was overpowered. ☹ All of the citrus through the balance of the drink off and while it was drinkable; it wasn’t enjoyable.

One of my Brown Girl Tribe has challenged me to make it better. Challenge accepted.
